• The casing is pressed 2
m into the soil and a working pit is excavated.
• A stainless plate for shearing off soil is
put into the pit and it is pressed underneath the casing with
the sharpened cutting edge at the head.
Part of the soil has to be refilled at the other side of the
vessel so that the vessel does not move backwards when the
plate is pressed underneath it. • As some stones
blocked the cutting plate, it was easier to pull the vessel
on the plate (using belts), see figure 2. •
The disadvantage of using such a plate is that soil is compensated.
